Step 2:
Fertilization and Implantation

Donated sperm can be frozen, so the actual IVF procedure may not happen while the intended parents are in Mumbai. Because of the perishable nature of the donated eggs, the IVF timing is most often determined by the egg donor’s cycle.

The fertilization process typically results in several viable embryos. The most viable will be implanted immediately. Others will be frozen in case the IVF procedure doesn’t produce a pregnancy and needs to be repeated.

Within 2 weeks following the IVF procedure, our doctors will announce that the implantation was successful and how many embryos have attached.

In most cases, two viable embryos are implanted, each with a 45% chance of a resulting pregnancy. This also allows an 80% chance of at least one pregnancy, but also a small chance that two pregnancies will result.

If multiple pregnancies result, the Intended Parents may decide to ‘reduce’ the pregnancy by terminating one of the embryos.

STEP 2: FERTILIZATION & PREGNANCY
Prenatal Care

After a successful pregnancy has been confirmed, Sensible Surrogacy will house the surrogate and her family in a dedicated apartment building -- ensuring she has a clean, stress free environment in which to complete the pregnancy.

Domestic help is available to assist the surrogate with cleaning and cooking.  A caretaker also lives in the facility to look after the surrogates; plus there is a nearby doctor on call 24 hours a day.

At the start of the 2nd trimester a second installment of the surrogate compensation is released. Payments for surrogate housing and the surrogate’s caretaker are also released.  The final payment of surrogate compensation is made at the beginning of the 3rd trimester.

Most importantly, the Sensible Surrogacy (through our IVF doctor) provides support, continual updates, and guidance to both the Intended Parents and the surrogate.  Sonogram scans are regularly sent to the intended Parents, along with the results of all tests and examinations.

NOTE:  This is a good time for the Intended Parents to contact their embassy or consulate in Mumbai and begin arranging a passport and a VISA for the newborn.

Consulate requirements often change, so it’s important for the parents to be in-touch with the local officials both early in the pregnancy and just before the anticipated birth.
